PERICARDIAL FLUID CELL COUNT

A laboratory test that measures the number and types of cells (such as white blood cells and red blood cells) in pericardial fluid collected from around the heart.

Fasting Required:
❌ No fasting is required (fluid is collected by pericardiocentesis as advised by the doctor).

Why the Test is Done:

• To help diagnose Pericardial effusion.

• To detect infection, inflammation, or bleeding in the pericardial space.

• To evaluate suspected malignancy or other causes of fluid accumulation around the heart.
